The Victoria Albert Museum opens its doors for a limited time only to show the John Constable Exhibition. Showing from 20th September 2014 to 11th January 2015, this exhibition promises to show some of John Constable’s most famous works as well as delving into the hidden past of some of his most well-known and loved paintings.
Born in East Bergholt in 1776, John Constable worked in his father’s corn business after leaving school but soon drifted away onto ‘sketching trips’ of the Suffolk countryside, which would drive his inspiration for most of his art. The exhibition displays a range of Constable’s paintings throughout the museum from his early works influenced by many other great painters, to his full size oil canvases, documenting how Constable helped to change and shape the face of art in history.
