From Friday 10th – Sunday 12th July, keen festival goers will be getting their beers out, dancing the night away and sleeping under the stars for the fantastic T in the Park festival at Strathallan Castle in Perthshire. Some 250,000 people are expected to attend this year, and with attendees travelling from all over the world, it is certainly going to be an event to remember, whether you’re coming from locally or you’re catching a long flight to get there!
What is it?
T in the Park festival is a major Scottish music festival which has been held annually for over 21 years. It is sponsored by the brewing company Tennents and the festival is named after the company itself. It has grown exponentially over the years, with the first festival having some 17,000 attendees, 2000 of which were campers.
The Line Up
The line-up this year promises to be extremely versatile with a wide range of musical talents appealing to a huge selection of different tastes. From Afrojack, Kasabian and Slam to The Proclaimers, The Prodigy and other such hit artists and bands, T in the Park will have something for everybody.
If you’re planning on camping there for the weekend, the T in the Park campsite opens up a day before the bands take to the stage, meaning there is plenty of time to get your tents in order and get organised for the great weekend ahead. If you’re planning on getting there ahead of time, make sure you have booked for a Thursday Weekend Camping Ticket, giving you access to the campsite for the whole weekend.
Remember to pack plenty of sunscreen, bottled water, several changes of socks and underwear, baby wipes, hand gel and dry shampoo as you don’t want to get too hot and sweaty over the course of the weekend! Getting grubby is half the fun of it, but you might start to feel a bit ill after a few hours so it is always better to come prepared.
If you’re heading up there in a group, why not hire one of our stellar coaches to get you there in no time at all? With a range of festival minibuses and coaches available for just such an occasion, coach transport group can provide everything you need to get there safely as soon as possible.
A Brief History of the Festival
T in the Park has experienced a reasonable amount of success, originally held at Strathclyde Park in Lanarkshire from 1994 until 1997. It was then held at the disused Balado airfield in Kinross-shire but from 2015 onwards it will be held at Strathallan Castle in Strathallan, Perthshire. It was a two day event until 2007 when the event was changed to encompass three days. Over the course of the weekend around 255,000 people will be attending, with over 70,000 campers pitching their tents for all three days.
So what are you waiting for? Get to it!
