It is a common practice to give up something you would normally rely on for lent, almost like a miniature ‘New Year’s Resolution’ as such. People spend lent trying to give up chocolate, wine, smoking and a whole number of bad habits that they often indulge in every day. It is a chance to see whether or not you have the willpower to stick at something for 40 days.
Why not try something a little different during Lent this year and give up driving to work? If you get your entire workplace in on it you could pool together money saved on petrol in order to hire a ‘work’ coach or minibus which would take everyone there in one go.
Carpooling it has always been a great way of reducing your carbon footprint, so why not take it one step further by hiring a company coach and get everyone in on it? It sounds a little crazy, but it might be a fun and quirky way of highlighting potential environmental issues with driving to the workplace and you may even make a few new friends on the coach journey!
