This Sunday is the annual boat race between Oxford and Cambridge Universities. It is the 160th Boat race between the two Universities since it began in 1829, and has been held every year since. Currently Cambridge University have the lead over Oxford with 81 wins to their 77, with a single draw occurring in 1877.
Coach Transport Group can provide minibuses and coaches for hire for those wanting to attend the event and support their favourite University. The race begins at 6pm from Putney Bridge and finishes just before Chiswick Bridge. The record for the fastest race time was set by Cambridge University in 1998 which was a time of 16 mins and 19 seconds.
Along the course of the race there are various pubs and bars from which you can watch the action. There are also a number of food stalls and family attraction stalls put up for the event and there is also a beer tent normally put up behind the South Stand of Craven for those who fancy a pint while watching the race. The event can be watched from various pub TV’s nearby if you prefer to stay indoors.
