Donkeys are often forgotten in favour of their more majestic cousins; the horse, or their exotic counterpart; the Zebra. However, at Slade Farm in Sidmouth you can meet some of the 500 donkeys located at the Slade Farm Sanctuary. Each with their own individual character and story to tell, donkeys of all shapes and sizes gather to have love and attention lavished on them in this unique setting.
With a variety of events organised throughout the year including cart rides and a Christmas market as we approach the holiday season, whether you are a couple or a family with small children, or if you are even planning on hiring a minibus with a local school to help the children learn more about animals in captivity, the Slade Farm Sanctuary has something on for everybody.
Plus with five beautiful walking trails located throughout the sanctuary, a Nature Centre documenting facts and figures about the local wildlife and a gift shop and restaurant for when you need a snack break or a place to buy some fantastic presents, The Donkey Sanctuary at Slade Farm makes for a fantastic day out.
