This Saturday the 1st March marks the national Welsh holiday of St David’s Day, a day where countless people will take to the streets to celebrate the life and times of St David. Take a trip to Cardiff on this day, where you’ll be able to attend a number of events designed to celebrate St David’s Day. The festivities include a parade at 12:30pm, colourful carnival dancers and groups in traditional costume, as well as Welsh folk musicians, dance groups and dancing dragons.
The parade starts at half past 12, travelling through the city and ending at Cardiff Castle, where more activities and events take place from 1pm – 3:30pm. Admission is free for those following the parade, however if you want to enter the castle grounds before 1pm on St David’s Day, you will still have to pay the admission fee.
As well as the festive dancing and colourful parade, there are a number of activities for the kids to get involved in, including a St David’s Day drawing competition, information about the history of St David, and a visit from Decimus the dragon.
