When you’re on a long coach journey, it can get boring and uncomfortable, particularly if you have young children who are easily irritable. However there are a few simple things that you can do to help alleviate your boredom and also to help ease any aches and pains that may creep up on you when you finally get your feet moving at the end of the ride!
Comfy Shoes and Clothing
Wear loose clothing that you can take off in layers in accordance with the temperature of the coach. There is nothing worse than being stuck in a tight dress for 5 hours with nothing to change into! Likewise for comfy shoes, as they can help reduce irritation!
Travel Pillow
Long coach journeys can make you sleepy, so make sure you pack a nice travel pillow so that you don’t get a crick in your neck sleeping against the window.
Moving About
Try to move your legs every now and then. Being stuck in the same position for an extended period of time can increase discomfort so even if it is wiggling your toes or bouncing your feet, mix it up a little! But try not to irritate the person in front of or next to you!
Hygiene
Wet wipes are an essential for any long journey, particularly if you’re keen on snacking on coaches. You don’t want to leave sticky fingerprints all over the armrest for the next unfortunate passenger!
Some friends and I hired a coach for a vacation that we’re going to be taking over the summer. I’ve never traveled by coach though, so I’m happy that I found your tips to make the trip more comfortable! I especially liked how you mentioned that I should bring a travel pillow with me. I never would have thought to bring a pillow, but I’m sure that I’ll be sleeping quite a bit, so I’ll be sure to pack one. Thank you for the great advice!
